Dr Kiron Bhatia is a highly experienced General, Upper GI and Bariatric Surgeon with extensive expertise in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery.
Since 2010, Dr Bhatia has been a senior consultant with the Upper GI Surgical Unit at Austin Hospital, where he continues to provide comprehensive, patient-centred surgical care. He completed his surgical training in Melbourne at St Vincent’s Hospital, followed by subspecialty Upper GI fellowships at Austin Hospital and Monash Medical Centre.
Dr Bhatia has undertaken advanced surgical training internationally, including post-fellowship training at the National Cancer Institute Hospital in Tokyo, Japan, where he developed further expertise in advanced laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery for oesophageal and gastric cancer. He later completed robotic surgery training at Memorial Hermann Medical Centre in Houston, Texas.
He is a faculty member of the RACS/GSA Simulation Program and the International Medical Robotics Academy (IMRA), contributing to surgical education and the development of future surgeons. He also provides proctorship and mentorship for surgeons training in robotic surgery using the da Vinci Surgical System.
In 2013, Dr Bhatia founded Heidelberg Weight Loss Surgery, establishing a dedicated multidisciplinary service for patients requiring bariatric, general and Upper GI surgical care.
