IT’S TIME TO BOOK YOUR 2024 VACCINATIONS!

As Blackburn Clinic will provide thousands of vaccines over the coming months, the majority of vaccines will be offered in specialised clinics on weekends. This ensures efficiency of service, keeps weekday appointments available for regular services, ensures space in the carpark and waiting room, and separates ‘unwell’ patients (here for normal appointments) from ‘well’ patients who are here for a vaccination only.

Consultations at Vaccination Clinics are bulk billed to Medicare.

FLU VACCINATIONS

Everyone over the age of 6 months is recommended to have a flu vaccination. This is especially important for those aged under 5, aged over 65, and those of any age with a chronic medical condition that increases the risk of severe influenza. If you are in these categories, the flu vaccine is provided free of charge (otherwise the cost is $20).

Bookings are now open for Flu Clinics, which commence after Easter and are mainly offered on weekend afternoons. Please book via the AMS Connect app or via the Online Booking button at the top of this page, or by phoning 9875 1123.

If you would like a Flu and Covid booster at the same visit, simply book a Flu Clinic appointment and the GP will offer a Covid booster at the same time.

COVID VACCINATIONS

All patients over the age of 18 years are eligible for one Covid booster every 12 months (check that it is 12 months since your last dose and 6 months since a Covid infection).

Covid boosters are particularly important for those who are older than 65, provided the last booster or Covid infection was greater than 6 months ago.

COVID Vaccine appointments can be booked using the booking buttons above, via the app or by phoning the clinic.

If you would like a Flu and Covid booster at the same visit, simply book a Flu Clinic appointment and the GP will offer a Covid booster at the same time.

SHINGLES VACCINATION PROGRAM – READ ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA BELOW FIRST

We are happy to announce that we have opened a new session for first doses on 14th September 2024. Supply of Shingrix stock remains limited but we hope to offer monthly sessions from Sept-Dec 2024 for first doses.

Although many are keen for vaccination, there is usually no rush to vaccinate for the non-infectious condition of shingles.

Second doses – we will automatically reserve Dose 2 for you once you’ve received Dose 1, and notify you after your Dose 1 appointment of your Dose 2 booking details.
